Consultation Fees

All prices are inclusive of GST

  • ACC provides no-fault personal injury cover for all New Zealand residents and visitors. The insurance cover is comphrehensive but does not meet the full costs of primary injury management so an ACC surcharge applies. However, if ACC declines a claim, patients will be liable for any additional charges for their treatment.

  • A surcharge applies on Public Holidays.

  • Additional charges may apply for materials, long consultations and equipment hire.

  • Please note that patients over 18 years of age seen for medical and ACC reviews within 24 hours will incur a half charge.

Payment is due prior to consultation

$20.00 Surcharge for patients whose GP does not practice in the Hutt Valley.

  • CSC - Community Service Card / HUHC - High User Health Card.

  • All costs incurred in the recovery of unpaid accounts, including but not limited to debt recovery charges and legal fees, will be added to the balance of your account.

 FAQs

  • Wait times vary a lot during the day/evening. Typically early evening on weeknights (5.30 – 7.30pm) is our busiest period as well as the mornings on weekends and public holidays.

  • No, we do not take appointments. The Lower Hutt after Hours Medical Centre is a walk in clinic. You need to come in and register and wait your turn.

  • We close off to new patients once we have enough patients to take us through to 10pm. The time is variable.

  • Our clinical staff triage all new patients after they have registered with the receptionist. If the patient’s condition requires them to be seen by the doctor urgently they will be bought forward in the queue. This decision is made by the nurse.

  • Our prices vary. Please see the fees schedule on our fee page on this website

  • No the staff at the Lower Hutt After Hours do not give out medical advice over the phone. Please call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

  • No our doctors have back to back appointments during their shifts at the Lower Hutt After Hours. If you need medical advice please call Healthline 0800 611 116.

  • ACC subsidises your visit to the After hours, it does not cover the full cost.

  • No, if you believe that you will require an X-ray you will be referred to the Hospital or Pacific Radiology.

  • No, we are not able to do immigration or driver’s medicals.

  • You are covered for publically funded healthcare while on a work Visa here in New Zealand. Ie – the hospital. The Lower Hutt After Hours is a privately owned company, we do not get any funding to see people on work visas.

  • Yes, please ask the receptionist for a receipt once you have seen the doctor.

  • If the nurse feels that you need to lie down we will do our best to accommodate you but we cannot guarantee it.

  • Not usually. While we do have some doctors that work regular shifts here at the Lower Hutt After hours most of our doctors are on a roster and may only work 1 or 2 shifts a month.
